Miami-Dade County Animal Services and Petco Love prevent life-threatening diseases in pets by providing FREE pet vaccines

A considerable grant investment will underscore Animal Services’ life-saving mission and protect vulnerable Miami-Dade County pets who may otherwise not have access to preventative vaccines

MIAMI ( November 05, 2021 )

Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) today announced it is partnering with Petco Love in efforts to prevent life-threatening diseases in pets by providing FREE parvovirus and distemper vaccines to our community’s pets. The FREE vaccine services are now available to Miami-Dade County owned pets through November 30, 2021 or while supplies last at the Animal Services’ Wellness Clinic in the Pet Adoption and Protection Center at 3599 NW 79 Ave., Doral, FL 33122, and at the WOW (Wellness on Wheels) Mobile veterinary clinic stationed at the Florida City City Hall located at 404 W. Palm Dr., Florida City, FL 33034.

“Thanks to Petco Love’s valued partnership and considerable investment in our community’s pets, we are able to expand support and services for our community’s beloved four-legged family members.” said Lorna Mejia-Lopez, Interim Director at Animal Services. “This program along with our array of life-saving services and initiatives help to ensure that our County’s pet owners are able to care for and enjoy a lifetime of companionship with their happy, healthy pets.”

This grant is part of Petco Love’s commitment to saving as many pet lives as possible. Through this generous initiative, they will donate one million vaccines to animal welfare organizations across the U.S, including our County’s Animal Services Department. Vulnerable pets in our community are not receiving the preventative vaccines they need, and many of them ultimately end up in our Pet Adoption and Protection Agency, putting our shelter population at risk. This program will help make sure pets are healthy and can stay in the care of their loving families.

“It is heartbreaking when any pet suffers or dies from a disease that could have been prevented. It is further exacerbated when unvaccinated pets come into busy shelter kennels, where these deadly diseases can spread quickly, resulting in multiple deaths, skyrocketing expenses, and hindering saving pet lives,” said Susanne Kogut, Petco Love President. “By creating greater awareness and making this crucial preventative care more accessible to pets not currently receiving these lifesaving vaccines, we can prevent the dangerous spread of disease.”

The WOW Mobile is made possible through a generous gift and grant funding from Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Inc, (FoMA).
