PortMiami is the #1 Port in Florida and #2 in North America for efficient container performance
PortMiami has been ranked one of the top container ports in the world by the World Bank Group and S&P Global Market Intelligence Container Port Performance Index for 2021. Additionally, Miami ranked the second most efficient port in North America, with a world ranking of #29.
“I am so proud of PortMiami, what it has accomplished, and where it’s heading, thanks to the hard work of its employees and dedicated partners," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. "I also want to congratulate the other Florida ports that made it to the top 100 performance index, including the Port of Tampa and JaxPort. Solid partnerships and a continued commitment to excellent performance have offered our nation a solid solution to sustain our economic growth, create employment opportunities and expand the horizons for our products.”
PortMiami's success is also thanks to partners like the International Longshoremen Association’s Local 1922 and 1416, the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Biscayne Bay Pilots, Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company, Seaboard Marine, South Florida Container Terminal, the shipping lines, the stevedores, the trucking and warehousing community, among many others.
Miami-Dade County has made infrastructure investments that have allowed the Port to service the world’s largest ships. PortMiami offers shippers the advantage of open express access to deep-water docks, Super post-Panamax electric cranes, a port tunnel with direct highway access, and a national freight rail connection reaching the majority of the U.S. within four days.
