The Underline: In Lights
From February 14 to the 21, the Vizcaya Metrorail Station will be lit in a different color each evening to promote The Underline project
(Miami, February 10, 2015) – To demonstrate the power of lighting to create and define a public space, Friends of the Underline, with funding by The Miami Foundation, will light up Vizcaya Metrorail Station a different color nightly from February 14 to 21, 2015.
The Underline: In Lights is a winner of The Miami Foundation’s 2014 Public Space Challenge, a community-wide ideas contest, funding projects improving, activating and creating public spaces in Miami-Dade County. Viewers are encouraged to tweet about this beautiful public transit light project using #underlinelights, #lovetheunderline, and @theunderlinemia.
The Underline Project is a planned transformation of the 10-mile M-Path beneath the Metrorail from the Miami River to Dadeland South into a linear park that will enhance connectivity, mobility, and biking safety for hundreds of thousands of Miami-Dade residents and visitors. Friends of the Underline advocate straightening, widening and lighting the future urban trail.
In addition, two special events are planned during this week to demonstrate just how easy it is for commuters to use public transit to enjoy the local sights.
