Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to host open house meeting to discuss upcoming improvement projects in area
(MIAMI, May 12, 2015) – For the next 15-20 years, the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) will be overseeing the largest Capital Improvement Program (CIP) in County history. A significant economic engine that is slated to generate $24.9 billion in economic output and create 16,470 new jobs during the next 10 years alone, WASD has scheduled open houses to be located in the North, Central and South regions of the County to provide an overview of what residents can expect during the implementation of the CIP.
These CIP projects, which include the replacement and/or improvement of water and sewer lines, state-of-the-art upgrades at the six water and sewer plants, as well as pump stations, will result in increased service capacity that will support more businesses to open in the community, improve the reliability and sustainability of the water and sewer system, as well as provide for environmental regulatory compliance, enhanced fire protection, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance.
WASD staff will be in attendance at this Open House to present to residents an overview of upcoming projects in the region and answer questions about how this $13.5 billion CIP will benefit the County for decades to come, as well as continue to provide safeguards to protect our vital natural resource – our drinking water.
It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit www.miamidade.gov/water.
