Water Main Break In Aventura Results In Precautionary Boil Water Order For Portion Of City Residents

(MIAMI, May 11, 2015) – The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) is repairing a 16-inch water main that broke near the area of 19680 and 20000 East Country Club Drive. Water service has been interrupted to affected buildings in order to accommodate repairs. The repairs are expected to be completed and water service restored within the next four hours.

Affected properties include: Turnberry Village, Country Club Estates, Promenade of Aventura and surrounding single family homes. Once water service is restored, the affected 500-800 residences will be under a Precautionary Boil Water Order. Therefore, all water used for drinking or cooking purposes should be boiled until further notice prior to consumption. Water should be brought to a full rolling boil for at least one minute.  There is no problem with using the water for bathing and other household needs.

The Precautionary Boil Water Order is not for all residents of Aventura – WASD staff will hand deliver notices to the affected properties. If your residence or building did not receive the notice, you are not affected by the Precautionary Boil Water Order.

WASD will be sampling the water. Once all tests are cleared, the boil water restrictions will be lifted and the affected buildings and residences will once again be notified of the lift notice with a hand delivered letter.

If you have any questions, please contact the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department’s Communications Center at 305-274-9272, 24 hours a day.  WASD staff will hand deliver notices to the affected customers.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit http://www.miamidade.gov/water
