Inmate Release

If an inmate has bondable charges, he or she can bond out at anytime. Check the yellow pages to find a bondsman, we are not allowed to recommend or solicit for bondsman. For further information on bonding out an inmate, or to find out the bond amount on an inmate, call inmate information at 786-263-7000.

There are several ways for an inmate to be released from jail including posting bond, qualifying for pre-trial release, being released resulting from a court hearing, etc.

Inmates are released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, the designated release center, between the hours of 6 a.m. - 9 p.m., regardless of availability of personal transportation.

Fugitive Extradition Hearing
Fugitive Extradition hearings are held Monday - Friday at 9 a.m., a judge will hear the case and it is the defendants opportunity to either waive extradition or to request further hearings prior to extradition.

Property collected at the time of booking is usually available for pick up from Turner Guilford Knight’s Property Room for up to 30 days. While in-custody, an inmate may authorize a representative to pick up their property.

After 30 days property is stored offsite and arrangements must be made for pick up. To make arrangements, call 786-263-5355. All property not picked up within 72 hours will be returned for offsite storage.

The Property Room is located at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and open Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Pursuant to Miami-Dade County Implementing Order 7-20, inmate property that remains unclaimed for 30 days or more after an inmate’s release will be scheduled for destruction.
Pretrial Release (PTR) is a process that includes several entities: the courts perform Release Own Recognizance (ROR), jail performs Promised To Appear (PTA) releases, and police agencies perform street citation releases. Bail, by cash or a bond agency is also a form of pretrial release. Pretrial Services (PTS) is a local county agency that releases persons, free of charge before their trial. The defendant then promise to appear for court.

Pretrial Services (PTS) ensures that the person comes back to court as directed so the person’s case can be disposed of properly. This is done effectively.
