Championing her team
Anastasia Cousins is a Courtroom Clerk 1 and Lead Worker in the Civil Division of the Clerk of Courts (COC). With the County and the COC for more than 25 years, she is motivated by her faith and thrives as a champion of her team.
“I saw this quote and adopted it as my own: I am a member of a team and I rely on the team. I defer to it and sacrifice for it because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion,” Cousins said.
Leading her group with those words in mind has made an impact. “I think Annie is a great asset to the Clerk’s Office,” shared Alba Downs, a coworker. "During the pandemic she worked from the office to help and support all the clerks working from home. She was always ready to help us and would go all out to find a solution.”
“She has such a smooth demeanor and always takes pride in everything she does,” Downs said. “Her contribution and support to our team is amazing.”
To Cousins, solving problems challenges her and it is what she enjoys most about her work. Helping her team and others has led her to work with many community groups over the years. Most recently, Cousins and her mother, Karen Galloway, were honored as 2022 Volunteers of the Year for Lotus House. Lotus House is the largest shelter for women and children in the County, sheltering more than 1,550 in our community annually.
Cousins is committed to championing her team, whether on the job at the COC or with the women and children at Lotus House.
