Remembering our heroes
The Miami-Dade Police Department had the honor and privilege to unveil its law enforcement appreciation/awareness/memorial vehicle recently. The vehicle is a solemn tribute to the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to serving their communities and made the ultimate sacrifice.
The lion on the front hood signifies courage, vigilance, justice and mercy. The 168 stars symbolize each Miami-Dade County fallen officer, ensuring their memory lives on and their sacrifice is never forgotten. On the back, each fallen officer’s agency is represented, along with the Police Memorial on each side. A silhouette of an officer saluting represents honor and respect for their service and dedication.
One aspect of the car that we may never see is meant for our lost warriors. In the process of designing the roof a thin blue line was placed and the light bar formed a cross, which created discussion: if our lost warriors were looking down at us, what message would it say? The words added to the roof are ''We Have It From Here.''
