Karen and Olga help customers resolve issues

Imagine Marissa Burgos’ surprise to find that her son had been stopped by police for a criminal infraction and told he would be arrested if found driving his vehicle again. The vehicle he was driving was legally purchased but had not been properly titled by the dealership. This left the Burgos family to deal with the Courts.
Burgos’ letter to the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office stated, “We were nervous, anxious, did not know where to start to find the root of the problem.”
Fortunately, she reached out to Tax Collector staff for assistance. She shared her positive experience and specifically her interaction with Olga Garcia and Karen Clarke.
“They went beyond the call of duty and delivered on your mission statement,” Burgos said.
Olga and Karen provided Burgos with a new plate, registration and even a credit in their favor for an overpayment. The Burgos family was also advised on how to proceed to have the case dismissed with the Court, which it ultimately was.
With over 800 people moving to Florida each day, staff at the Tax Collector are able to help many people. Staff work diligently and thoroughly to get to the root of issues and make sure customer issues are resolved.
As Assistant Tax Collector Gerardo “Jerry” Gomez, stated about Tax Collector staff, “They are amazing, but it is so nice to hear from those we serve with our hearts every day of the week. Our public service office remained open every day during closures ordered due to COVID, because the residents of Miami-Dade and beyond needed our services.”
