Tax Collector employee makes community proud

Anette Paleo-Navarro joined the Tax Collector’s Office last December. She is a quick learner with a background helping residents. A recent customer shared his experience.

“I visited Ms. Navarro at window number four this morning," Gerardo Pavel said. "She was the best person I have ever encountered at any government office who took my concerns seriously and made sure that I was completely satisfied before I left. Her positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile for me as a customer was really appreciated."

Before relocating to South Florida, Paleo-Navarro worked with San Diego County.

“In human services, we helped Californians secure food stamps and other important services,” she explained. “I felt great satisfaction helping those who needed it most.”

Her assignment at the Tax Collector includes helping residents with auto tags, business licenses and property taxes. These direct services are available to customers five days a week.

According to Tax Collector section manager Roxana Mila, “Anette communicates with our taxpayers, as well as her coworkers and management, in a kind and professional manner. She is a valuable contributor to the Public Service Office.”

“There is a lot to learn here,” says Paleo-Navarro. “I find working for the Tax Collector’s Office interesting and serving our community is what I like to do.”

Having a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from San Diego State University, she wants to become more involved with community work in the future.

“I’m still finding my way around,” Paleo-Navarro explains. “On weekends, I end up being a tourist and visiting new places to get a sense of what the different areas of the County have going on. My mom relocated here with me, so I spend quality time with her as well. Truly looking forward to building my future here and making a difference in the lives of those I am able to serve."

“I'm happy people like her work for the County to make us proud of living here in Miami-Dade," said Pavel.
