You can buy or renew a dog license at your local veterinarian’s office, the Pet Adoption and Protection Center or any one of the 311 Service Centers. Dog Licenses are required for all dogs in Miami-Dade County over four months of age.
The dog license tag must be renewed every year by the anniversary of the month and date of the dog’s most recent rabies vaccine, whether your dog receives the one-year rabies vaccination or the three-year rabies vaccination.
A valid driver's license or passport will be accepted as identification for the purpose of registering a dog.
A three-year tag must be purchased when three-year vaccine is administered or shortly thereafter with proof of three-year vaccination. Regardless of when the dog license is purchased, the expiration date will coincide with the vaccine expiration date.
Must be 18 years old to register as a pet owner.
Must be a Miami-Dade County resident.

Spayed or Neutered Dogs Requires proof that the dog has been spayed/neutered.
One-year spayed or neutered $30.
One-year under 12 months $30.
Three-year spayed or neutered $90.
Non-spayed or Neutered Dogs
One-year non-spayed or neutered $60.
One-year under 12 months $30.
Three-year non-spayed or neutered $180.
Low-income
One-year low-income spayed or neutered $5 (Requires proof that the dog has been spayed/neutered).
One-year low-income non-spayed or neutered $15.
To qualify for this discount price, owners on public assistance must provide a current eligibility letter from at least one of the following:
Food Stamps.
Medicaid.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Jackson Memorial Hospital Clinic Cards.
Temporary Assistance for Needed Families (TANF).
Replacement tags are $5 Animal license replacements can be processed in person at the Animal Services shelter or at any of the 311 Service Centers. A new tag with a new number will be issued, but the expiration date will be the same as the tag that was lost.
Tags can be purchased in person or by mail. If paying by check, make it payable to Miami-Dade Animal Services. Cash is not accepted for mail orders.
Owners of Service Animals may qualify for a free dog tag.
Under the American Disability Act (ADA), a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform a task for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. Animal license tags are free at the Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center with the proper documentation certifying the service that the animal is providing for the owner.
Emotional Support, therapy, comfort or companion animals are not considered service animals under the ADA
