Christopher Carothers began his career with the Miami-Dade Police Department in 1996. Since that time, he has been promoted through all the civil service ranks, and currently holds the position of Undersheriff, proudly serving alongside Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz within the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. In his role as Undersheriff, he ensures that the residents of Miami-Dade County receive professional law enforcement services via multiple police districts and specialized investigative bureaus.

During his career, Undersheriff Carothers has served in a variety of police missions, including uniform, specialized investigative, and supervisory assignments. In 2006, he obtained a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida International University, and he is a proud graduate of the FBI’s National Academy. Undersheriff Carothers has previously served on Miami-Dade County Boards, and currently serves as the President of the Police Officer Assistance Trust (POAT). He actively volunteers his time to benefit the United Way of Miami-Dade County, and local youth soccer programs.
