24-hour MEGA Match-A-Thon festival and pet adoption event to be held at the Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Doral uniting families with their new fur-ever best friend
10th annual pet adoption festival helps find loving families for hundreds of furry friends.
The 10th annual Miami-Dade County Animal Services’ MEGA Match-A-Thon, a one-of-a-kind 24-hour pet adoption event, kicks off on Oct. 28, at 11:59 p.m., and runs all day through Saturday, Oct. 29, until 11:59 p.m. at the Pet Adoption and Protection Center, located at 3599 NW 79 Ave, Doral, FL 33122. Miami-Dade residents are invited to find their perfect match and new fur-ever best friend. Pets will go home ready for Halloween with a free pet costume, while supplies last. Adopters will also have a chance to win gifts and prizes. The family-friendly pet adoption petstravaganza helps pet lovers connect, fall in love with, and adopt from over 500 shelter dogs and cats.
“We are so excited to bring our community this marquee event for another year of matching families with lifelong companions,” said Bronwyn Stanford, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services. “We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of this event by bringing it home to the Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Doral, which will be transformed into a spooky and fun Halloween festival. All the staff at Animal Services look forward to this event every year, as we not only celebrate Halloween but also the pairing of hundreds of our pets with their forever homes.”
The festival will include round-the-clock entertainment, food trucks, and a variety of activities. Below is a quick overview of the line-up:
• Food Trucks will be onsite offering a selection of street food (Friday evening and Saturday)
• Free kids’ zone with games and pumpkins (Friday evening and all day Saturday)
• Free giveaways for adopters while supplies last
• Trick-or-treating stations within the shelter. (While supplies last)
All pets adopted are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Special pricing will be offered for the 24-hour pet adoption event:
• Dogs 4 months and older: Adoption fees waived. Adopters will only be responsible for the $30 tag fee.
• Puppies younger than 4 months: $85
• Kittens younger than 4 months: $35
• Cats 4 months and older: Adoption fees waived.
Adopters will be asked to check in and will receive a ticket, as the number of adopters permitted in the shelter and in each adoption suite is controlled for the safety of adopters, staff, and animals. Please bring a valid form of photo identification.
All pet lovers are encouraged to follow the event and all Animal Services’ efforts by visiting miamidade.gov/animals or our social media channels @AdoptMiamiPets.
