Miami-Dade County Solid Waste Management customers advised of facility closure, possible service delays
Due to the fire at the Resources Recovery Facility (RRF) waste-to-energy plant in Doral, Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) informs waste collection customers and waste disposal customers (waste haulers) of the facility’s closure and the following service updates:
Waste collection customers
Waste collection customers may experience service delays in the coming days. Customers are kindly asked to continue placing their green waste carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on their service days to ensure their carts are serviced. Routes will continue to be serviced until they are completed; however, it may take longer than usual for routes to be fully serviced. For more service updates, call 311, visit the DSWM Service Alerts Webpage or follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter.
Curbside recycling services and other services will continue as normal. Customers are encouraged to “Recycle Right” in order to reduce waste. For more information about DSWM’s recycling program, including what materials are acceptable, please call 311 or visit miamidade.gov/recycling.
Customers are encouraged to reduce waste further by considering home composting. To learn more, visit miamidade.gov/homecomposting.
Waste haulers
Waste haulers who regularly use the Resources Recovery Facility are advised that the facility is not accepting garbage or trash deliveries until further notice. Waste haulers may use the other system facilities listed below:
North Dade Landfill
• 21500 NW 47th Avenue (trash only)
South Dade Landfill
• 23707 SW 97th Avenue (garbage and trash)
*Northeast Transfer Station
• 18701 NE 6th Avenue (garbage and trash)
*Central Transfer Station
• 1150 NW 20th Street (garbage and trash)
*West Transfer Station
• 2900 SW 72nd Avenue (garbage and trash)
Because of additional traffic anticipated at these sites, waste haulers may experience delays. The Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) kindly asks for patience as DSWM staff, other County officials and other DSWM partners work through this challenge. For more service updates, call 311 or visit the DSWM Service Alerts Webpage.
*Transfer fees will apply. More information available here under the “Fees” heading.
