Miami-Dade Fire Rescue welcomes into service new rescue trucks during two push-in ceremonies in Miami-Dade County
Join us in inaugurating into service Engine 70 and Rescue 61 during two traditional push-in ceremonies taking place on Wed., Oct. 4, 2023 at 10 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m.
Both new rescue trucks will help enhance service and increase transport capabilities to residents and visitors throughout Miami-Dade County.
HazMat ALS Engine 70 went into service on September 11th out of MDFR Coconut Palm Fire Station 70. This four-person Hazardous Materials Advanced Life Support (ALS) suppression unit will provide specialized HazMat response to the south end of Miami-Dade County as well as additional ALS and fire suppression capabilities.
Rescue 61 went into service on September 11th out of Trail Fire Station 61. This three-person rescue unit will join the suppression unit already in service at Station 61, adding to MDFR's response and transport capabilities in the southwest area of Miami-Dade County.
“In the spirit of tradition and progress, as we gather to inaugurate Engine 70 and Rescue 61 into service, let us remember that our commitment to the community remains steadfast,” said MDFR Fire Chief Raied “Ray” Jadallah. “These new fire trucks symbolize our dedication to enhancing service and safety in Miami-Dade County, and we look forward to the future they will help us build.”
The fire service truck “Push-In Ceremony” is a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses. When a new unit came to the station, the community would join the firefighters pushing the new unit into the station where they could then hitch the horses and ready the unit for the next emergency.
