Friday: Latin Music at Tropical Park featuring GALE and Mariangela
Miami-Dade County presents Rhythms of Miami – A Night of Latin Music and Food Trucks
This Friday, Nov. 1, the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department is inviting the community to Rhythms of Miami – A Night of Latin Music and Food Trucks, with performances by Cortadito, Mariangela, and featuring Latin-Grammy Award winner GALE. Sponsored by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners Vice-Chairman Anthony Rodriguez, the event celebrates Latin music in our community as we prepare to welcome home the 25th Annual Latin GRAMMYs®. The musical performances will take place at Tropical Park, 7900 Bird Road, in Miami, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the admission is free.
“Miami-Dade County is truly the heart of the Latin music industry, and our parks create the perfect setting for our community to come together and celebrate our vibrant culture,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Thanks to the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Rhythms of the Night will be a powerful tribute—not only to the incredible legacy of Latin music but to the unique heritage we share in Miami-Dade. This event goes beyond great performances; it’s an opportunity to celebrate our roots, embrace our diversity, and connect through the music that unites us all, just in time for the return home of the Latin Grammy.”
Like every Friday, Tropical Park hosts popular food trucks which have cultivated a loyal following among fans and residents. This week’s event features musical performances by popular local salsa band Cortadito, as well as headliners Mariangela and Latin Grammy Award winner GALE. The performances will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Miami-Dade County Animal Services will also bring their mobile unit, the Hope Express, featuring adoptable pets for those looking to expand their family.
“This event brings Miami-Dade’s vibrant Latin culture to the forefront, celebrating the rhythms and flavors that make our community so unique,” said Vice Chairman Anthony Rodriguez, District 10 Commissioner. “Rhythms of Miami at Tropical Park offers residents a fantastic evening of music, food, and togetherness, showcasing the energy and spirit of our community—all in a beautiful, open-air space, at no cost.”
“We’re grateful to the Latin GRAMMYs for returning home, and there’s no better way to celebrate our heritage than through music,” said David Whitaker, President and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. “A perfect example is our collaboration with Sony Music Latin to bring the magic of music directly to our community with a free concert for the public.”
“We’re thrilled to celebrate our community’s rich cultural heritage through amazing recreational experiences,” said the Parks Director Maria Nardi. “In partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, we’re bringing an exciting lineup of Latin music to beautiful Tropical Park. It’s the perfect chance for families and friends to gather, enjoy live music, and enjoy the rhythms of Miami!”
Rhythms of Miami is made possible through generous sponsors and partners, including the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade, Moty Food Trucks, Miami-Dade County Animal Services, and Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Pets and coolers are prohibited. For more information, visit www.miamidade.gov/parks and follow us on Facebook.
Artist bios:
Mariangela was born in Monterrey, Mexico and was raised in Texas. Inspired by artists such as Mazzy Star, Madonna, Shakira, Dua Lipa, and other contemporary female artists, as well as traditional Mexican folk music from her parent’s native Veracruz, Mariangela’s sound is a perfect mix of pop with other alternative sounds. After signing with Sony Music Latin America in 2022, Mariangela released her first Extended Play (EP) “4+1,” which garnered her an Emerging Latina Artist by Billboard. In February 2024, she released her debut album “Sensible,” a perfect fusion between alternative pop and rock. She has also collaborated with major artists like Farruko on his new album, CVRBON VRMOR. Mariangela is paving the way for the new era of pop, being recognized by Grammy.com as 'one of the 10 women leading the Latin pop revolution.'
Singer, songwriter and Rolling Stone-crowned ‘it girl’ from Puerto Rico, GALE will preview her sophomore project “Por Si Las Dudas” with a new collaboration with pop duo LAGOS. Before becoming a solo artist, GALE co-wrote songs for other artists, including Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Anitta, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez. She won her first Latin Grammy for songwriting on Christina Aguilera's “Aguilera,” which won best traditional pop vocal album. GALE's debut album, “Lo Que No Te Dije,” was released in 2023 and includes a range of songs from feminist punk anthems to heartbreak ballads. Rolling Stone named it one of the Best Albums of 2023.
