Homicide
Joshua Ismael Campos Arrested
The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Homicide Bureau is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a male.
On Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 5:22 p.m., uniformed officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department, South District, were dispatched to 13822 SW 270 Street, Miami, Florida, in reference to a ShotSpotter alert of 21 rounds. Upon arrival, the officers located the victim, Demetrius Harris, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Mr. Harris to Jackson Memorial Hospital South, Trauma Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation revealed that just prior to the shooting, the victim was arguing with the subject’s girlfriend and her family members in the courtyard of the apartment complex. The subject exited his apartment and shot the victim. The subject fled the scene with his girlfriend abruptly, leaving their one year old child with family members.
The subject, Joshua Ismael Campos, is wanted and has an outstanding arrest warrant for second degree murder. His girlfriend, Maxine McCord, is wanted for questioning and is believed to be with the subject. Investigators do not know if Ms. McCord is being held against her will. The subject should be considered armed and dangerous.
On March 19, 2024 the FBI joined in the efforts of Miami-Dade Police Department's Homicide Bureau, in the search for Joshua Campos, for the murder of Demetrius Harris and offered a reward of up to $10,000.
UPDATE #1- Joshua Ismael Campos was located by Manatee County Sheriff's Office, and arrested for an outstanding homicide warrant out of Miami-Dade County. He is pending extradition.
