Miami-Dade and the Bahamas unite to boost film industries with landmark MOU
The Commonwealth of The Bahamas is now offering stackable incentives in conjunction with Miami-Dade County’s film incentive program through the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Miami-Dade County and the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. The MOU was established by and through the Bahamas Film & Television Commission, a unit of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation and the Miami-Dade Office of Film and Entertainment.
Film Miami plays a key role in driving both economic and cultural growth by advocating for policies and providing incentives that attract more film projects. As the largest film office in Florida, Film Miami serves as a full-service commission, working with all 34 municipalities in Miami-Dade County to foster a thriving environment for the industry, making it a vital contributor to the local economy.
Earlier this year, Film Miami launched the successful High Impact Film Fund Program, championed by Senator Rene Garcia. This program made history as the only incentive of its kind in the nation at the county government level and has already drawn several large-scale productions.
The MOU with the Commonwealth of The Bahamas will help government jurisdictions create jobs, support small businesses, boost tourism, and strengthen local economies. As key hubs for the international community and as Sister Cities, Miami-Dade County and The Bahamas will leverage this partnership to enhance the region's appeal and attract more projects.
ITC extends a special thank you to Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Senator Rene Garcia, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, Minister Ginger Moxey, and Consul General Curt Hollingsworth for their support.
