Park West Metromover Station temporarily closing for major renovations aimed at improving rider experience.
Park West Metromover Station temporarily closing for major renovations aimed at improving rider experience
[Miami, FL] – Beginning Monday, January 6, 2025, the Park West Metromover Station is temporarily closing for up to six months as part of a major renovation project aimed at modernizing the station, enhancing the rider experience, and improving the surrounding area. These important upgrades are a key component of the larger Miami World Center project, a transformative urban development in Downtown Miami.
The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), in partnership with the developers of the Miami World Center, will complete a series of enhancements to revamp the station’s appearance and boost safety for commuters. One notable improvement includes the installation of brighter, more efficient lighting throughout the station and its surrounding areas, providing a safer and more welcoming environment, particularly during evening operating hours.
During the renovation period, Metromover trains will bypass the Park West station. Passengers can easily access adjacent stations, including Freedom Tower, and Eleventh Street which are both approximately a three-minute walk, offering quick connections to popular destinations like the Kaseya Center.
What’s changing at Park West Station:
- A sleek new look: replacing platform tiles with new, modern materials.
- Updated entrances: new entrance canopies and escalators will be refurbished to improve flow and safety.
- New seating: new, modern platform seating for a better station experience.
- Brightening up the space: new, energy-efficient lighting will help improve commuter experience and safety.
- Clean and refreshed: Restoration of concrete walls and ceiling with fresh paint and sealing for a polished look.
Similar closures and improvements have also been made to the Freedom Tower and Museum Park Stations.
We thank riders for their understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance and improve connectivity for all residents and visitors. The renovations at the Park West Metromover station are an important step in building a safer, and more connected community.
