Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava appoints new Senior Advisor for Economic Opportunity
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced the appointment of Manny Cid as Senior Advisor for Economic Opportunity in the Miami-Dade Office of Innovation and Economic Development. In this role, Cid will advance Mayor Levine Cava’s economic development agenda, focusing on supporting small businesses, cutting red tape to make it faster, easier, and less expensive to do business in Miami-Dade, attracting greater investment and hiring opportunities, and creating new pathways for businesses to work with the County.
“I got to know Manny during the campaign, and he impressed me with his great ideas and deep commitment to our community,” said Mayor Levine Cava. “As we continue working to support small businesses and strengthen our workforce, Manny’s experience and new ideas will help us continue to deliver for Miami-Dade. I’m proud to be the collaborator-in-chief and to bring together people of diverse perspectives to improve quality of life for our residents.”
"I’ve always respected Mayor Daniella Levine Cava for her dedication to public service, and we share a lifelong commitment to moving Miami-Dade forward,” said Cid. “Strengthening small businesses and creating opportunities for Miami-Dade families are issues I’ve worked on throughout my 19-year journey in public service, and I’m grateful the Mayor has entrusted me to deliver on these priorities for our residents.”
“Manny’s addition to our team will help us reach our mission of extending critical support to small businesses and our workforce,” said Francesca de Quesada Covey, Chief Innovation and Economic Development Officer. “Small businesses are the heart and soul of our economy. With over 80,000 small businesses in Miami-Dade, we’re focused on helping the people behind small business and investing in programs that ensure long-term, inclusive economic growth. Manny’s leadership, his personal experience building businesses, and his strong ties to the community will help us build on that momentum.”
A proud Miami Lakes native, Manny Cid brings extensive experience in government and coalition-building to his new role. He has an MA in Ethical Leadership and a BA in Organizational Leadership from St. Thomas University, as well as an AA in Political Science from Miami Dade College. He spent 19 years in public service, starting as a Legislative Aide in the Florida House of Representatives and most recently serving as a Councilmember, Vice-Mayor, and Mayor of the Town of Miami Lakes. A proud entrepreneur and small business owner, he is currently a partner at the Mayor's Cafe in Miami Lakes.
