Miami-Dade Parks Crandon Golf Course to reopen after $5M renovation project
Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces is excited to announce the grand reopening of the Crandon Golf Course on Monday, January 27, 2025, following an extensive renovation project. This project aimed to enhance the course’s playability, sustainability, and overall experience for golfers of all levels.
The reopening ceremony will begin at 10 A.M., featuring remarks from Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, joined by Miami-Dade County District 7 Commissioner, Raquel Regalado and Miami-Dade County Parks Director Maria I. Nardi.
“We are thrilled to reopen Crandon Golf Course and showcase the incredible enhancements made through this transformative project” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “These improvements reflect our commitment and dedication to provide exceptional recreational experiences for residents and visitors while addressing the critical and environmental challenges of the future.”
The $5 million renovation project which began in May of 2024 has delivered a range of improvements designed to optimize golfer player experience and address environmental challenges.
“The reopening of Crandon Golf Course represents more than a new chapter for its greens – it’s reflective of our commitment to environmental resilience and sustainability. From drought-resistant plants to upgraded irrigation systems that conserve water, these improvements are part of our vision for a greener, more resilient Miami-Dade,” said Commissioner Raquel Regalado.
The course enhancements include a state-of-the-art irrigation system upgrade to ensure optimal conditions year-round, expanded tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels, and renovated sand bunkers featuring advanced concrete capillary technology for improved durability and performance. Additionally, the introduction of Paspalum grass provides a sustainable turfgrass solution, addressing challenges posed by rising sea levels and supporting long-term environmental resilience. These upgrades reflect a commitment to delivering an exceptional golfing experience while promoting sustainability and innovation.
"The reopening of the Crandon Golf Course represents our mission to provide exceptional recreational opportunities for all Miami-Dade County residents and visitors," said Parks Director Maria I. Nardi. "These upgrades elevate the playing experience while conserving resources, protecting ecosystems, and inspiring future generations to care for our planet."
Crandon Golf Course, renowned for its stunning views and layout, will continue its legacy as one of Miami-Dade County’s top golfing destinations.
