You or your child can be safer at the beach and pool by enrolling in a Learn2Swim class. Swim classes are offered at County pool locations. They are available year-round, depending on demand, in two-week sessions. Swim classes are 30 to 45 minutes long. The cost of swim lessons varies from $10 to $60 per session depending on pool location. You will be taught by certified American Red Cross water safety instructors.
Swim classes are based on your swimming ability level and age group.

Every swim lesson counts Every Lesson Counts is a water safety campaign in Miami-Dade County. The goal is to teach one million swim lessons every year. The campaign brings together countywide locations where you can take swim lessons. It also highlights the importance that every child should learn to swim.
Parents & Tots (ages 2-5) Lessons are designed to help toddlers ages 2 to 5 become comfortable in and around water. You, the parent, will learn important water safety techniques. A parent or guardian is required in the water with each child. The class starts by teaching basic skills. The instructor will build on these skills to increase your child's endurance and teach new aquatic skills appropriate to your child's age and readiness.

Preschool Aquatics (ages 4-5) Children ages 4 and 5 learn independent skills and water safety practices. Parents will learn important water safety techniques. A parent or guardian is required in the water with each child. The class starts by teaching basic skills. The instructor will build on these skills to increase your child's endurance and teach new aquatic skills appropriate to your child's age and readiness.
Levels 1-6 (ages 6-18) Children ages 6 to 18 in levels 1 to 3 learn fundamental skills such as water entry, water adjustment, breath control, floating, and front and back crawl. Children ages 6 to 18 in levels 4 to 6 improve swimming for distance in the four basic strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
Adults (ages 18 and over) Adults with little or no swimming experience will learn basic swimming skills such as floating, breathing regulation and kicking.

If your child is between 2-17 years old and doesn't know how to swim, you may qualify for a Learn2Swim scholarship. The scholarship will provide the funds for your child to take swimming lessons. Our swim teams provide a low-key, competitive setting for your child to be introduced to the sport of swimming. Swim teams focus on stroke improvement, team building and fun. The highlight of the summer swim team season is the countywide Swimming Champion Meet at Tamiami Pool in August
