Geographic Information Systems Metadata
Metadata is used to inform and maintain accurate data usage during the mapping and analysis process, to avoid added costs to organizations.
Metadata provides data with vital information (such as the how, what, when, where, and why) about the data collected to users as well as maintainers. This can include data limitations, scales, reference, contact, correctness, attributes, processes, and how the data was created.
