Foster a Pet Program

As a foster parent, you can help save a life by opening your home to a shelter pet in need. Foster families provide temporary care, love, and support for dogs and cats while they prepare for adoption, recover from medical needs, gain confidence, or simply get a break from the shelter environment.

Miami-Dade Animal Services provides foster parents with the training, resources and supplies needed to help their foster pet thrive, including food, basic supplies, medical support, and guidance from our Foster Team. Foster parents play an important role in helping pets become healthier, happier and more adoptable.

Foster commitments vary depending on each pet’s individual needs. Some foster opportunities may require a short-term commitment, while others may last several weeks or longer. Whether you can help for a few days, a few weeks or through a pet’s journey to adoption, your support makes a lifesaving difference."
