• How do I foster a pet?

  Ready to make a difference? Complete your foster sign-up through our new foster platform, Doobert.

  • Animal Services’ Foster Coordinator will notify you of approval and ask that you complete a foster parent orientation
  • Once you’ve completed orientation the Foster Coordinator will contact you with a date and time to come to the shelter to pick-up a foster animal and provide you with instructions, food, and supplies

  Once the online application is completed, ASD staff will review then contact you to schedule orientation.

• What are the requirements to foster a pet?
  • Agree to bring the foster pet to Animal Services every two weeks for vaccine boosters and
    deworming, if necessary
  • Must be able to transport pet to adoption events when requested
  • Must be able to return the pet to the shelter for out-of-state adoption travel when required
  • All pets residing in your home must be current on vaccines
  • All dogs in your home must be over one year old
• What foster opportunities are currently available?

  We have a variety of foster opportunities available throughout the year. While we welcome foster families interested in helping all types of pets, our greatest needs are currently for:

  • Adult dogs over 40 pounds who need a break from the shelter environment, additional socialization, or time to find their forever homes
  • Neonatal kittens who are not yet eating on their own and require bottle-feeding and specialized care

  Additional foster opportunities may also be available based on the pets currently in need. When you complete your foster application, you can share your preferences, experience and availability to help us find the best match for you and the pets who need your support.
