This site is centered on the Miami Dade College South Campus, located along Killian Parkway (SW 104th Street) between the Florida Turnpike and the Don Shula Expressway. The MDC campus includes a cluster of low- to mid-rise classroom buildings and support facilities surrounded by surface parking lots. The adjacent areas along SW 104th Street include predominately automobile-oriented strip commercial development with some multifamily residential development located just south of SW 104th Street near the campus. Setbacks are generally large and include moderate-sized surface parking lots. The campus includes sidewalks and pedestrian amenities such as benches and information directories and kiosks. The area is currently served by bus routes 35, 71, 56, 104, and Killian KAT, but is not located along any of the planned rapid transit corridors. Household density south of SW 104th Street directly adjacent to the MDC campus exceeds 7.0 households per acre. Employment density for the MDC campus exceeds 25 employees per acre. There are no vacant parcels, underutilized properties, or ongoing development activities visible in the area.
