Shanika A. Graves joined the County Attorney's Office in 2008. She currently practices in the Tax and Finance and Social Services & Public Health Trust sections of the County Attorney's Office. Shanika is responsible for litigating matters pertaining to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") and consults with county department personnel concerning the mandates of and compliance with the ADA. She also serves as legal counsel to The Children's Trust, South Florida Workforce Investment Board, Miami-Dade County Commission on Disability Issues and Miami-Dade County Commission on Human Rights.
During her tenure at the County Attorney's Office, Shanika has successfully defended the County in several areas, including Tax and Finance, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Torts.
Shanika currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at Nova Southeastern University Broad Law Center.
Prior to joining the County Attorney's Office, Shanika practiced at the Office of the Florida Attorney General. As an Assistant Attorney General, she prosecuted violations of the Florida Civil Rights Act in the areas of housing, employment and public accomodations.
