Assistant County Attorney
Stacey primarily handles workers' compensation litigation on behalf of Miami-Dade County and the Public Health Trust, including claims filed by first responders and Jackson Memorial Hospital employees. She assists in providing legal representation to the Miami-Dade County Long-Term Disability Panel. In addition, she represents all county departments in personnel appeal hearings as well as the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department in animal cruelty litigation and dangerous dog investigations.
Prior to joining the Miami-Dade County Attorney's Office, Stacey represented the State of Illinois in disputed workers' compensation claims, including claims filed by police and corrections employees. She worked with a team of investigators on behalf of the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission to secure financial and other civil penalties from employers operating without proper insurance. She also represented state funds set up to make payments to employees injured while working for uninsured employers. Stacey appeared regularly in front of a three-panel commission for oral argument in appellate practice. She managed a high-volume caseload and worked on discovery, settlement, trials, and appeals. She also mentored and trained younger attorneys in the office.
Stacey has also practiced in the areas of Social Security and veterans' benefits.
