Richard Schevis is a member of the Torts Liability Litigation Section. Before joining the Office, Richard served as a law clerk for two federal Judges in the Southern District of Florida: the Honorable Marcia G. Cooke and the Honorable Robert N. Scola, Jr. As a law clerk, Richard worked on a wide variety of civil and criminal issues involving both state and federal laws.
Between the two clerkships, Richard worked as an associate at the law firm of Gaebe, Mullen, Antonelli & DiMatteo practicing primarily in the area of civil litigation, with a focus on personal injury, premises liability, products liability, and insurance coverage cases. Richard taught at the FIU College of Law, from 2012 through 2018, as an adjunct professor in the judicial externship clinic. His focus was on issues such as ethics and professionalism while working for a judge, and on legal writing in plain English.
Prior to law school, Richard served as a member of the Florida Army National Guard for eight years and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for his service as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
