Assistant County Attorney
Fabiana Cohen is a member of the Federal Litigation Section where she defends Miami-Dade County and its officers in civil rights cases in federal court. In this capacity, Fabiana handles all aspects of litigation, including taking discovery, drafting dispositive motions, arguing substantive matters, mediating cases, and trying cases in state and federal court. During her time at the County Attorney's Office, Fabiana has tried several jury trials to verdict in both federal and state court and she has successfully defended lawsuits attacking the constitutionality of County practices.
In addition to litigating constitutional issues, Fabiana also represented Miami-Dade County and the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources in cases involving unsafe structures. In this capacity, Fabiana has litigated cases relating to building code violations and other regulatory issues.
Prior to joining the County Attorney's Office, Fabiana clerked for two federal judges in the Southern District of Florida and practiced complex commercial litigation at a national law firm.
