Attorney Profile

Monica Rizo joined the County Attorney's Office in September 2006. Monica handles both transactional and litigation matters, practicing in federal and state courts. As a transactional attorney, she has handled various real estate, development and financing matters, including representing the County with respect to the new Marlins ballpark and various other public improvements and representing the County in all matters relating to several County bond programs.

As a litigator, Monica has handled a variety of cases, including bid protests, code enforcement appeals, commercial and construction disputes, tort cases and federal civil rights claims. Monica is currently a member of the Tax and Finance and the Commercial and Construction Litigation sections of the office.

Monica is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association, the Dade County Bar Association and the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. Monica has volunteered her time to various charitable causes including as a teacher at a local church, to Habitat for Humanity, as a mentor for Educate Tomorrow, and in the University of Florida Levin College of Law's Alumni Matching Program.
