Environmental Code Compliance

One of the Regulatory and Economic Resources Department's primary goals is to ensure that environmental violations are corrected in the most expeditious manner possible in order to minimize the impact of the violation on the environment and the residents and visitors of Miami-Dade County.

The Environmental Quality Control Board hears petitions on code variances and appeals.

Environmental Code Enforcement

Environmental code enforcement within Miami-Dade County is handled by DERM’s Code Enforcement Section, who works with the regulated community and general public to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws and, when warranted, utilizes progressive enforcement remedies to achieve compliance, reduce pollution, and mitigate environmental damage.

Compliance Assistance

The Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has partnered with industry, academia, environmental groups, and other government agencies to create specific Compliance Assistance Centers.
