PortMiami's Pre-paid Scale Program significantly reduces waiting times at cargo gates by automating payments for cartage/trucking companies accessing the Port. While drivers have the option of paying cash at the gate at a price of $15 per entry, enrolling in the automatic Pre-paid Scale Program provides access to the Port's inbound scaled cargo lanes at a cost of $12 per usage.
To take advantage of the Pre-paid Scale Program:
- Users must first obtain a PortMiami ID Card.
- Once the ID Card has been issued, the driver will need a Company Authorization Code in order to use the automated gate system. This code is linked to the driver's ID card and debits the company's pre-paid account for gate entry.
- Enrolled companies can reload their accounts using the Account Replenishment system or access gate pass logs using the Gate Transaction Inquiry system.
The Pre-paid Scale Program is exclusively for cartage/trucking companies. Ground Transportation companies are required to use the pre-paid Go Pass system 
for quick access to PortMiami entry points.
