About Jack L. Stephens

Jack L. Stephens was named executive director of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority in February of this year after serving as Deputy Executive Director of the agency for more than a decade.  As the deputy, Stephens was responsible for the day-to-day management of the Authority, including operations, human resources, administration, procurement, marketing, customer service, finance, information technology, engineering, construction, planning and capital development.

Prior to joining the SFRTA, Stephens spent a dozen years associated with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority in a succession of increasingly responsible managerial positions. Before entering the transit industry, he was associated with the Orleans Parish Public Schools and the Georgia Department of Offender Rehabilitation. In addition, he served as a legislative staff for the Georgia Senate and House of Representatives.
